PATRICK KING earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE) in a Co-operative Engineering Program from the University of Detroit, Eta Kappa Nu, and took graduate Electrical Engineering courses at the Illinois Institute of Technology In Chicago, Illinois. He obtained a J.D. from Loyola University Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to becoming a Patent Attorney, Mr. King was an electronics engineer and an engineering manager. He was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1976, the U.S. Patent Office (Registration No. 28,231) in 1976, and the California State Bar in 1988. Mr. King’s long legal career includes positions as in-house patent counsel for Motorola, staff attorney for the US Department of Energy in Livermore, and Chief Patent Counsel for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). In addition he has practiced with a number of firms, including Flehr, Hobach and Hickman and King in San Jose. Mr. King’s fields of technical expertise include software applications, digital and analog circuits and systems, semiconductor fabrication processes and packaging, complex integrated-circuit architectures, software, microprocessor design and applications, radio and wire communication circuits and systems, industrial electronics, complex mechanical and electro-mechanical apparatus, lasers, plasma confinement systems, fusion energy systems and other complex physics and mechanical applications.
